The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office presented awards Feb. 12 to law enforcement agencies for their continued efforts to combat drunken driving in Montgomery County in 2015.

Montgomery County law enforcement officials are stepping up efforts to stop motorists as the number of drunken driving arrests continues to rise.
“When we first started it (the DWI awards), it wasn’t that formal,” Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon said. “The reason is that there is no unified effort, no team, no comprehensive effort to stop DWI in the state. Now we have a formal and important way to identify an officer. One of the reasons we have to recognize that this officer is what we do. because not everyone in society appreciates it.”
