Fort Smith police have made an arrest in connection with the shooting incident that occurred Tuesday night (December 18).

After speaking with witnesses, investigators went to a home on North H Street where a 17-year-old male was believed to be inside.
After putting a perimeter around the house and talking to the family members, the suspect came out of the house.
The 17-year-old suspect has requested a lawyer and faces multiple charges; According to Fort Smith police, one count of first-degree battery, two counts of second-degree battery and possession with intent to distribute were found inside the home when marijuana was searched.
Aric Mitchell with the Fort Smith Police Department said at least three people were shot Tuesday night in the 2300 block of North 32nd Street. Mitchell said two of the victims were hit in the ankle and the other in the thigh.

Several witnesses were taken to the police department for interviews, but the cause of the shooting is still unknown. Sheriff PITKIN, Colo. (KKCO) – Early Monday morning, smoke and flames engulfed a home near an old ice field northeast of Aspen, Colorado. After receiving a 911 call at 2:15 a.m., Roaring Fork Fire Rescue and the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office were quickly dispatched to the inferno scene. One building was already fully engulfed when firefighters arrived, and the second building was halfway into a spreading inferno.
There were four people living in the building that evening between the owner of the house, his girlfriend and two other men. Also, the fire did not spread to two buildings but spread to the surrounding areas. Forestry fire crews were called in to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading beyond the property boundary, and fire crews will Type-2 in the area to prevent further wildfires due to high fire risk.

In Pointe Coupee Parish, District 3 Fire Chief Donald Williams has the same problem as many fire stations in the country, they need more firefighters. “My volunteer base is huge. My contractor base, paid guys, I’m having trouble getting by. Other cities, Baton Rouge and other places are paying more than we are currently paying. I think we have a lot of problems getting contractors here,” Williams explained.
There is another problem, however, according to members of the Parish Council. Council President Dustin Boudreaux said some fire districts in Point Coupe are underperforming or have reduced fire ratings – meaning problems with equipment, management and other activities. That poor fire rate can hit the bottom line. “A lot of people I’ve talked to, my constituents, taxpayers, one thing they’ve told me is that the fire rate is important to them. That’s what you hear a lot about. They want to know what that does to my owner’s insurance,” says Boudreaux.
Boudreaux’s solution was to create a fire board to manage all fire districts. He hopes this new board will get everyone working on the same page to improve fire standards.
“Well, we don’t know who will be in this group, and that’s a big concern,” said Evan Doucet, deputy fire chief for District 4. Some fire districts are still hesitant about new change, and they are worried that it will not solve their biggest problem, with the lack of workers. “We’ve had problems that we’ve brought to them for help, and their response is a board that’s not going to solve the problem,” Doucet says.
