Driver distraction is a common cause of rear-end collisions. When driving, we need to change speed with the car in front of us. This is especially important if the car in front is slow to stop. Disruption destroys our ability to respond to these changes.

Your Guide To The Personal Injury Claim Process
A University of Iowa study conducted in 2000 found that the average braking time was 2.3 seconds. If you’re driving at highway speeds, this can be 200 or more before you brake. If you drive too fast and you only give the car forward a little, you will not be able to react quickly to the sudden braking of the car.
How to Avoid Accidents: Always try to stay at least three seconds behind the car in front of you to give yourself enough time to brake.
In bad weather, it is important to remember to drive safely. Being wet and sliding on ice often does not excuse you from a rear end accident. This is because you accept the responsibility for safe driving while driving.
Take it slow and give yourself more time than usual. Sudden acceleration in snow or wet weather can cause you to swerve and hit the car in front of you. If you are in heavy fog or snow, prepare the vehicle to suddenly appear out of the fog. Always be careful in this situation.
Cities With Good Public Transit Have Fewer Road Fatalities
How to Avoid Accidents: The best way to avoid rear-end accidents is to remember and be careful on the road at all times. Be especially careful in difficult and bad weather conditions. Give yourself enough time to react to the traffic in front of you.
In most cases, the rear-end driver is considered at fault for rear-end accidents. This is because every driver has the responsibility to control his car and stop it in time even if the car in front of him stops suddenly.
However, there are some situations where this may not be the case. For example, if the car in front of you turns into your car, or if the driver in front of you drives recklessly and makes a sudden lane change. In some cases, if the driver in front does not have street lights, they may be responsible for the accident.
As with any car accident claim, if you are injured in an accident caused by another person, you are entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost work, pain, suffering, and more. Each payment varies based on the extent of your injuries and the circumstances of the accident.

Pierre, S.D. – On Tuesday, state senators removed South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg from office after he struck and killed pedestrian Joe Boever while driving.
After the accident in September 2020, questions arose about Ravnsborg’s behavior including claims that he did not know he was hitting a human and not a deer. A police investigation revealed that Boever was walking on the shoulder of the highway when Ravnsborg struck him.
Throughout the police interview, Ravnsborg said he didn’t know what happened until Boever’s body was found the next morning. But investigators inform Ravnsborg that Boever’s face went through his windshield. Boever’s glasses were found in Ravnsborg’s car.

“Also, is there anyone walking down the street?” Ravnsborg was asked by North Dakota investigators on Sept. 2020. “I believe I’m on my way – wham. My life changed.”
Accident reconstruction found that Ravnsborg had all four tires on the shoulder of the road when he hit Boever.
Investigators told Ravnsborg that Boever’s body lay a few feet from the side of the road. The flashlight Boever brought is still there, although investigators will find out later, he said. Ravnsborg repeated several times that he did not see the body that night.

Ravnsborg also refused to be distracted by his smartphone. But investigators showed him data that showed he was on his phone checking news and blog posts up to a day before the crash.
“So, when we look at this, our concern is that everything we see here seems to read politics at that time,” said one researcher in an interview.
Two days after the accident, Ravnsborg had an impromptu meeting with the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and experts in the field of digital forensics.

Brent Gromer, a retired South Dakota DCI, said he was unhappy with the meeting.
“We should not have been involved. We disagreed with the investigation and contacted North Dakota to investigate. We should not have done anything.”
After the meeting, Gromer took notes about the meeting and gave them to his supervisor. Meeting informed the first part of the second article on the issue of official misconduct.
Ravnsborg was charged with three crimes in connection with the accident. He pleaded not guilty to the two victims of the accident.

Attorney General Ravnsborg is the first in the country to be impeached, removed from office and banned from holding future positions in the country.
The vote came at the end of the first day of Ravnsborg’s hearing at the Capitol in Pierre. Ravnsborg was present but chose not to testify before the Senate.
DPR impeached Ravnsborg earlier this year with two separate articles, leading to the Senate hearing. The Republican-controlled state Senate voted 24-9 to uphold the first article of impeachment, which is related to the crime that led to the death of Joe Boever. Senators voted 31-2 in favor of the second issue, which is about misconduct in office.
